A hundred and fifty square metres, ten metres wide by fifteen long, with a ceiling of three metres ten. The height is the number worth noticing. Most hotel meeting rooms of this size sit under a low ceiling, and a room with three metres above it holds eighty people for a presentation without feeling like it is holding eighty people.
The hall opens onto its own foyer. It is where the coffee goes, where the badges are handed out and where the conversations that actually matter tend to happen. A meeting room without one of these runs its breaks in a corridor.
A stage of a hundred and fifty by a hundred and sixty five centimetres, raised on risers. Four microphones, two of them wireless, which is enough for a panel rather than a single speaker. A mobile projector and screen, a pulpit and a flipchart. Nothing here needs bringing in for an ordinary conference day.
A gala dinner, an award evening or a closing night does not have to happen in the room you worked in all day. Hemera has a proper amphitheatre on the property, which is a different proposition from a stage put up at the end of a terrace.
A main restaurant seating six hundred and fifty eight, five evening restaurants with separate kitchens and a lobby bar that never closes, all on Ultra All Inclusive. Lunch does not need a separate negotiation and nobody is counting covers at the end of the week.
Three hundred and seventy six rooms. A conference of eighty does not take the hotel over and does not have to be split across two properties either.
Antalya Airport is sixty kilometres away, Manavgat eight and Side three along the coastal walking path. One transfer, no connecting flight, which is usually the deciding factor when the dates are tight.
Side keeps its ancient city inside the modern one. The theatre, the agora and the Temple of Apollo stand a short drive from the gate, with Aspendos and the Manavgat falls further inland.

Side wears its history lightly. An ancient theatre and the Temple of Apollo stand among its streets, the beaches run either side of the promontory, and the whole of the Pamphylian coast opens out from the hotel gate.
